Filipinos are usually employed in foreign countries not only for their skills related to the job. Tey are more importantly employed because they can carry out a conversation easily in English. They can follow instructions because they were able to understand the English language.
In this globally competitive job market place, speaking in the English language is already expected from anybody joining the workplace here and abroad. But being able to speak in another language aside from English and our mother tongue is something any employer looks for an employee. This is very true in a call center company or a business processing organization.
Gladly there are some online language learning websites. I personally have tried LiveMocha.com which offers "free and paid online language courses in 35 languages to more than 6 million members from over 200 countries around the world."In this globally competitive job market place, speaking in the English language is already expected from anybody joining the workplace here and abroad. LiveMocha.com advocates reciprocal learning. "The best instruction begins when people teach and learn from each other. Learning becomes more interesting when friendly people from different parts of the world offer their help and perspective. Livemocha has the world's largest community of native speakers eager to help and learn from each other—and that's what makes Livemocha so addictive and effective. Plus, you get to contribute your own knowledge to help others—and that feels great. When you enter Livemocha's community, it's like traveling around the world, but without the cost."
So far, I have registered to study German and Spanish languages online. I took short reading, speaking, and writing exercises. I was able to speak with native German and Spanish speakers who were helpful in understanding these languages.
I was able to reciprocate their efforts by teaching them some of the Filipino or Tagalog language.|
